Hi All
I am looking for abit of advice about sailing at Hunstanton, I normally sail inland at Rutland with the occasional trip to Cornwall or the south coast. Could someone tell me best tides and wind directions for Hunstanton and Old Hunstanton and where to park and launch at Old Hunstanton.
Thanks:)

Hello - I used to windsurf at Rutland and also Norfolk coast but have since turned to kiting the last few years but the same rules apply of best wind etc.

Hunstanton - SSW thru W to NNW works fine - avoid an hour or two either side of high tide as the sea will be against the groynes or higher. Low tide on a big spring tide does mean a big walk to the waters edge and it can be even more of a walk out to sea to find deep enough water depending on what fin you are using.

Old Hunstanton - SW thru W to N works - sailable in any tide state but low tides can mean a looong walk. Park either on the cliff top by the lighthouse (pay & display) or at the car park next to Le Strange hotel but Old Hunny is a bit of a pain lugging kit from the car park to the beach.

Brancaster - W thru N to E works well, car park is obvious. Sailable at all tide states but the access road will flood for an hour - hour and half either side of a big high tide so watch out for this.

You'll usually find a good bunch of windsurfers at Hunstanton or Brancaster if the conditions are right - Saturday looks ideal for Brancaster as it is a neap tide with high water just after 1pm so ideal for windsurfing with not too far to carry your kit.

Make the trip - you'll enjoy it far more than pond skating at Rutland! ;)
