Sailing Club member Jonny Gambell is windsurfing the Wash in aid of the RNLI
“As part of my Extended Project at College I am organising and planning a windsurf crossing from Hunstanton to Skegness and potentially back again, depending on weather conditions. My aim is to raise money for the RNLI charity which SAVES LIVES AT SEA and only exists thanks to generous donations.
We will be checking forecasts regularly in search for a perfect forecast to make the crossing and will set out from Hunstanton beach”
Fellow windsurfers Neil Greentree, Steve Chatten, Andy Holland will be escorting Jonny with John Fox and Penny Wiles coming along for the ride. Its date is fluid to get the right wind in the right direction but will be completed within the first 6 months of 2018. Sadly this event is not open to all for safety reasons but it will for sure test the nerve of the riders both physically and mentally.
Jonny has set up a Just Giving webpage to allow people to donate to this great cause – you can find it here
Huge thanks to all the competitors and crew who came to the finals of the British Kitesurfing Championships at HSC at the end of July. Special mention to club member Toby Cooke for taking 2017 overall runner-up in the juniors.

HUGE thank you to everyone who came down and helped last night!
We had everything going on – from Geoff Carnell with his digger helped by ‘the machine’ Ivan Espley, Will Rockcliffe and Mantas Luinys digging the footings for the balcony. John Fox, Andy Holland, Les Collinson, Lisa Collinson boarding out the new bar cellar. Gemma Philp, Candy Game, Sue Gumb and Dave Gumb doing the weeding / gardening. Lee Torrice stripping down the rib engine – and me with my weedy alien-arm serving drinks
Just two weeks to go to one of our biggest events of the year!
Once again we will be hosting the finals of the British Kitesurfing Championships – so if you’d like to see the top kitesurf talent in the country put 22-23 July in your diary
If that wasn’t enough – the same weekend sees us team up for the first time with Hunstanton Round Table to bring you the SUNSET FESTIVAL. Starting at 7pm on the friday and running through to sunday evening – come and enjoy a mixture of live bands, DJ’s, cocktail bars, wine bars, beer bars and all to raise funds for charity
This morning I had the privilege of presenting free memberships to the crew of Hunstanton RNLI on behalf of the club.
A lot of fundraising goes on for the RNLI but it’s not often you get the chance to thank the amazing individuals who give up their time for free and put themselves at risk. On behalf of the local watersports community THANK YOU so much, each and every one of you

Cracking day, last sunday at hunstantonsc.co.uk - did a ‘multi-sports training exercise’ in the morning with Hunstanton RNLI – with club members simulating being in need of rescue in 5 sports: sailing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, kayaking and SUP. Then ‘Push the Boat Out’ in the afternoon providing FREE sessions for the general public in sailing, SUP and kayaking. Huuuuuuge thanks to all the wonderful club members who volunteered to help whether it be admin, beach duties, or helming the sailing boats. Special thanks to Les at hunstantonkayaks.co.uk and Steve at hunstantonwatersports.com not only for helping – but also letting us use all their kayaks, SUP’s and wetsuits for free!
