Windsurf The Wash – Supporting RNLI

March 3, 2018 No Comments

Sailing Club member Jonny Gambell is windsurfing the Wash in aid of the RNLI

“As part of my Extended Project at College I am organising and planning a windsurf crossing from Hunstanton to Skegness and potentially back again, depending on weather conditions. My aim is to raise money for the RNLI charity which SAVES LIVES AT SEA and only exists thanks to generous donations.

We will be checking forecasts regularly in search for a perfect forecast to make the crossing and will set out from Hunstanton beach”

Windsurf The wash

Fellow windsurfers Neil Greentree, Steve Chatten, Andy Holland will be escorting Jonny with John Fox and Penny Wiles coming along for the ride. Its date is fluid to get the right wind in the right direction but will be completed within the first 6 months of 2018.  Sadly this event is not open to all for safety reasons but it will for sure test the nerve of the riders both physically and mentally.

Jonny has set up a Just Giving webpage to allow people to donate to this great cause – you can find it here

Huge thanks to all the competitors and crew who came to the finals of the British Kitesurfing Championships at HSC at the end of July. Special mention to club member Toby Cooke for taking 2017 overall runner-up in the juniors.

Check out the summary video below or visit the clubs facebook page for loads more videos and pics :-)

Balcony

July 13, 2017 No Comments

HUGE thank you to everyone who came down and helped last night!

We had everything going on – from Geoff Carnell with his digger helped by ‘the machine’ Ivan Espley, Will Rockcliffe and Mantas Luinys digging the footings for the balcony. John Fox, Andy Holland, Les Collinson, Lisa Collinson boarding out the new bar cellar. Gemma Philp, Candy Game, Sue Gumb and Dave Gumb doing the weeding / gardening. Lee Torrice stripping down the rib engine – and me with my weedy alien-arm serving drinks  ;-)

What an amazing little community we’ve got – thank you so much!

If you’re down the club in the next few days please watch your step and be aware there are some big holes to be concreted-in shortly.

If you’d like to come and help – the next session starts saturday morning

Sunset Festival / BKC Finals

July 7, 2017 No Comments

Just two weeks to go to one of our biggest events of the year!

Once again we will be hosting the finals of the British Kitesurfing Championships – so if you’d like to see the top kitesurf talent in the country put 22-23 July in your diary ;-)

If that wasn’t enough – the same weekend sees us team up for the first time with Hunstanton Round Table to bring you the SUNSET FESTIVAL. Starting at 7pm on the friday and running through to sunday evening – come and enjoy a mixture of live bands, DJ’s, cocktail bars, wine bars, beer bars and all to raise funds for charity :-)

Hunstanton RNLI

June 25, 2017 No Comments

This morning I had the privilege of presenting free memberships to the crew of Hunstanton RNLI on behalf of the club.

A lot of fundraising goes on for the RNLI but it’s not often you get the chance to thank the amazing individuals who give up their time for free and put themselves at risk. On behalf of the local watersports community THANK YOU so much, each and every one of you :-)

Hunstanton Sailing Club is a community amateur sports club run by volunteers and we’re honoured to have you join our little family :-)
