Open day
On Sunday 29th May (weather permitting) – we’re planning on holding a ‘family and friends open day’ 10am – 4pm followed by a christening of the upstairs bar with a celebratory party / function in the evening. The following day is bank holiday monday so plenty of time to sleep off a hangover!
The idea of the open day is to attract more family members by letting people come along and ‘have a go’ at sailing, windsurfing, canoeing and stand-up paddleboarding – as well as just generally check out the clubs facilities / relax / have a family bbq etc.
If you’re able to help in any way, please let us know – the more volunteers the better!
But please come along anyway and enjoy the day whether you’re free to help or not – and please invite your ‘friends and family’ – all activities will be free of charge!
First Aid Course in April
Subject to sufficient numbers we may be hosting a First Aid course at the sailing club in April.
This will be an RYA First Aid Course and will likely be on Sunday 17th April.
If you would like to express your interest please email gabbysailing@btinternet.com

Sunday’s open day cancelled
Wow – that was a scorcher!
THANK YOU! to everyone that helped out at the taster day today and i hope everyone who took part enjoyed themselves
Just to say we’re going to have to cancel the open day tomorrow (Sunday) as with up to 45mph offshore winds forecast – it would simply be unsafe.
Apologies to anyone who was hoping to come tomorrow….
British Kitesurfing Championships
So a big week for kitesurfing in Hunstanton coming up with the Sailing Club hosting the finals of the British Kitesurfing Championships next weekend August 14th – 16th.
On friday evening the BKSA are holding their Annual General Meeting at the club starting at 6.30 pm. Straight after the AGM – top kitesurf coach Jo Wilson will be giving us a talk and this will be followed by some of the latest video releases. Free drinks and nibbles provided courtesy of the BKSA during the evening.
Saturday sees the first possible start for the BKC finals with categories including mens pros, womens pros, amateur men, amateur women, Juniors (under 16) and masters. If you’ve never competed before this a great opportunity to dip your toe into the competitive kitesurfing scene. Competing is undoubtedly one of the best motivators for improving your kitesurfing skills and also great fun socially.
Pre-registration is necessary which you can do here
There’s free parking on the prom for competitors as well as 24hr access to hot showers / changing rooms / clubhouse with bar, TV, WiFi, kitchen, weatherstation etc / free breakfast each morning / free meal saturday evening and of course saturday night party
If you’re not interested in competing – no problem – why not get yourself down and check out / demo all the latest gear from the top brands and of course hang around and check out the party in the evening
Keep your fingers crossed for some good winds and hopefully see you down there!

Youth Week update
This years Youth Week (4th-8th August) was blessed with some glorious weather allowing 115 sessions in sailing, windsurfing, canoeing, stand-up paddle-boarding and much more…
We have received amazingly positive feedback from the children (and parents) including cards and chocolates to emails and even an article in the Lynn News from a grateful parent!
We have also gained a new family membership as a result and hopefully 2 more in the near future.
The week also made a healthy profit for the club not least thanks to all the amazing volunteers – so massive thank you to Gay, Beth, Bob, Les, Jon, Julia, Dave, Dennis, Ian, Sol, Dawn, Dawn G, Graham, Bee, Nicky and everyone else who gave any of their time no matter how small – not only raising money for the club but raising a smile on the clubs future — the youth.
Last but not least – HUUUGE thank you to Tim Starling and Dave Harding without who’s energy, enthusiasm and committment none of this would have happened
