Monthly Archives: May 2020
Following the government’s advice on the 10th May, the RYA and other water sports governing bodies are allowing a cautious return to the water from 13th May until further notice. We are delighted to see members back on the water and also pleased that so many new memberships have been taken up. At the moment single handed recreational water sports are allowed and so is boating that has more than one person on board, so long as they are all from the same household. Unfortunately the club house currently remains closed but we are working up a solution to allow it to be opened in phases later and following guidance from the government and RYA. We will look at opening the toilets in the first phase and then the showers after this. There are no plans to open the bar until government guidance allows and our own risk assessments consider it safe. The loan of club kit is unfortunately not yet possible due to safety concerns but the committee are considering how this can be made available to members in the near future. We are also in regular contact with the RYA who are supporting and updating clubs like ours on a daily basis. If you are unsure of anything then please contact one of the committee members or refer to the Covid-19 guidance on the RYA website. Please be safe both on and off the water and take on board the RYA advice.
